J-Ann Shibas is a small hobby kennel located in central Illinois. I'm a dog groomer for my vet
. I teach basic dog obedience classes for the community.
I acquired my first Shiba,
Ch. Foxtrot Simply
Irresistable CD, CGC "Tara" in 1992 from Kathline Brown-Truax of Foxtrot
I show my Shibas in conformation, obedience, agility and I hope to try flyball and tracking with them someday.
My biggest thrill in showing dogs came in 1999 at the Shiba Classic in Maryland. I won Best In Show under Japanese judge Dr. Kokichi Miyazaki with NIPPO/USA, Am. Ch., U-AGII, U-CD Hi-Jinx Black N Dekker CD, NA, CGC "Dekker" owned and handled by me, bred by Patricia Doescher of Hi-Jinx Shiba Inu. Also, a dog I bred and own, Ch. J-Ann Wild Card "Maverick" won his class for the second year in a row.
Maverick and I went back to the Classic in 2002, Maverick received more points toward his title. Maverick now has his NIPPO/USA title! by winning his class at the 2003 Classic
All the Shibas at J-Ann are house dogs. Puppies are raised in the home with daily handling and socializing. I breed for quality not quantity. I don't produce a litter every year, but the years I do breed, I raise no more than 2 litters. All my dogs are certified clear of hip dysplasia with the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) and certified clear of hereditary eye disorders with the Canine Eye Research Foundation (CERF)
Our commitment does not stop after the sale. We are always willing to help with any problems or questions for the lifetime of the dog.
